Numerous manufacturer's produce "solid surface materials" that are
commonly used for kitchen and bathroom countertops and sinks. Corian® is
manufactured by Dupont® and was the first solid surface material on the
market.
Due to Corian's® resistance to moisture and its' renewable surface, this material is ideal for use
in an outdoor environment, and was chosen for the plant markers, headstones/plaques for
this reason. Corian® will never fade, corrode, discolor or warp in any
outdoor conditions or climate.
Not only is Corian® one of the most durable materials for outdoor use,
but it's beautiful polished surface gives the appearance of real granite.
Custom Engraving Services also applies a "rough edge" to the Corian®
Headstones/Plaques that simulates real granite.....and offers these at a much
lower price than traditional granite memorial products.
Our Corian® Plant Markers and Headstones/Plaques are hand engraved with an ultra high speed tool
that produces a narrow groove in the Corian® marker/headstone/plaque (1/8" deep),
which is then inlaid with green or black enamel
paint and GUARANTEED not to fade in outdoor use.
Corian® comes in many colors and shades. (see samples below). However, C.E.S. has determined
that our Plant Markers look best on white or "sandstone" Corian®. Lettering engraved on white or sandstone shades of Corian®,
with dark green lettering is the best color enamel paint to use for garden markers
and signs.

we offer the "sandstone" or "dusk" Corian® shades, with green or black

Suggestion on which Corian®
color to use for Plant Markers or Garden
signs:
When you desire the plant markers to "blend in" with your
garden or display or exhibit, and not overpower the
plant/shrub/tree being labeled, it is suggested that you choose the sandstone
shade. When you desire the marker or sign to
stand out and be particularly noticeable from a distance, it is suggested that
you choose the white Corian®.
We also suggest using the "dusk"
shade of Corian® for Headstones with a "rough edge" (which best
simulates real granite) or a beveled edge for a more formal look. The Sandstone
shade of Corian® is also used for
headstones/plaques.
Please note that
Corian® colors may not appear accurately when viewed on the Internet. We
think the colors show accurately here, but that may depend on your monitor
settings. If a more accurate view of Corian's® colors is desired, please visit
a Home Depot, or other store that displays Corian® samples.
CORIAN® PLAQUES, FOR INDOOR OR OUTDOOR USE, ARE OFFERED
IN 1/4" or 1/2" THICKNESSES IN THE FOLLOWING CORIAN® SHADES:
"Dusk" (1/2"
thickness only); "Sandstone" (1/4" and 1/2" thickness);
Aurora (1/2"
thickness only), or White (1/4" or 1/2" thickness).
